ProcessKillers on Kubernetes and Other Container Orchestrator

Modified on Tue, 5 Sep, 2023 at 11:55 AM

Killing PID 1 in Containerized environment (such as Kubernetes) will terminate the container. Our current recommendation is to perform a Shutdown Experiment instead.

One of the features of the ProcessKiller (that Shutdown does not provide) is repeatedly killing the process when it restarts.

If you want to simulate this experience in a Container based environment (like Kubernetes) you need to create a HOST based experiment with the Process Killer and install the Gremlin agent with hostPID set to true.  This will simulate the expected behavior.
